Layout
When creating a layout – whether it's for a website, a poster, or anything else – there are some important things to consider. In addition to the general design guidelines that you find here, we’ve created some layout examples below.
Split View
The split view is a layout used on covers, single-page designs, chapter pages, top banners, and more. We incorporate it into templates to create a flexible and user-friendly design. In this layout, text maintains sufficient contrast for readability, and images remain consistently visible.
Coloured background
The coloured background layout can be used similar to “Split view” for covers, single-page designs, chapter pages, top banners, and more. It’s a flexible and user-friendly design. In this layout, text maintains sufficient contrast for readability, and images remain consistently visible.
Full canvas images
In this layout, images should run to the edge of a page or span the entire screen. Make sure the text is readable, has enough contrast, and is not placed on a background that is too busy. Also ensure that the key elements of the image are visible. You can use this layout on covers, single-page designs, chapter pages, top banners, and more.
Text on coloured background
In certain situations and depending on the goal and situation, using text on a colored background can suffice.
Following pages
When creating documents, you can use the split view, coloured background, or full canvas image layout on the cover and section pages. But, on all other content pages, it's a good idea to use a white background and minimal colours. This way, the content remains the focus and is easy to read.
